Attending a wedding with a baby

Wedding season is almost upon us and for you, the question is no longer up for debate: you are bringing your baby! You know the advantages of this choice, as well as the downsides. Here are a few tips to help you have a wonderful time whilst keeping your little one close.

Think practical

A wedding that takes place quite far from home will almost certainly mean you need to stay overnight. Think about packing the essentials without overloading yourself (easier said than done, right?!). Bring a few changes of clothes, wipes, meals, bottles, and other must-haves for yourself. If you are staying overnight, check with your hosts whether there are any travel cots available, or whether you need to bring your own. Some are very practical and compact, such as the Babybjörn Light Mesh or the Kubbie Coal by Joie.

Keep to baby's routine

For your child to feel comfortable away from home, it is important to keep as many of their familiar things as possible: think about bringing a blanket that smells of you, for example, their comforter, and their night light if they have one. You will then be able to let them sleep peacefully in a room next to where the evening is taking place.

A handy tip: If you do not have a baby monitor, you can download an app on your phone such as "Luna" or similar — you will simply need two connected devices such as two smartphones, or a smartphone and a tablet.

Protecting them from the noise

Your baby is not used to so much noise, and to protect them as much as possible from the sound levels, there are some very effective noise-cancelling headphones that will allow your little one to sleep peacefully without being disturbed by what is going on around them!

One last piece of advice...

Depending on the venue and how the wedding unfolds, you will probably need to bring a pram, at least for the daytime. We would strongly recommend also bringing a baby carrier — a sling, for example — so that you can fully enjoy the wedding without constantly having to move away with the pram to rock baby somewhere quieter. A baby carrier will allow you to keep your child close to you, and they will feel reassured seeing that you are relaxed and comfortable.

Create Tender and Memorable Moments

In addition to these practical tips, think about capturing precious moments with your baby during the wedding. Bring a camera or use your smartphone to immortalise these special instants. Whether it is the glances exchanged, the complicit smiles, or the cuddle-filled moments, these little details help to weave lasting memories of this unique day. By sharing these moments with your little one, you not only strengthen your bond but also create an archive of warm and joyful memories that you will be able to cherish together in the years to come. Make the most of every moment and turn this wedding into a memorable experience for the whole family.
