With the arrival of warmer weather, many parents wonder whether they can use Pocket diapers on their child during summer. They worry that the various layers making up reusable nappies might make their baby too hot. And yet, summer is perfectly compatible with Pocket diapers. In fact, they are far more suitable for warm weather than disposable diapers.

Disposable diapers in summer — a good idea?

A 2001 study found that the temperature inside a disposable diaper is 1°C higher than inside a reusable one. Made from synthetic materials, disposable diapers create a greenhouse effect — the external heat is amplified by the plastic contained in the disposable diaper.

This rise in temperature is particularly harmful, especially for baby boys. It can negatively affect the healthy development and functioning of their testicles.

For inserts, half a day in the sun is more than enough — even for the materials that take the longest to dry, such as bamboo.
