The baby playpen is truly an ally for all busy parents! Between the house, the kitchen, and the older child's homework, how do you put baby down somewhere safe?

The baby playpen: baby's discovery space

Even though we are always busy, it is essential to keep an eye on baby. At first, everything is fine. Indeed, baby is small, and we still have a little breathing room! The playpen is their discovery zone. You can put a play mat in there, sit down beside them, and that is all there is to it. Baby develops, starts to touch everything, to roll over... but all is well because from their playpen they cannot escape. After all, they cannot walk yet!

The playpen is an advantage for all parents who do not like putting the play mat directly on the floor.

Indeed, depending on the season, it can be far from pleasant (or comfortable) to sit on the floor on the tiles. What is more, the playpen being slightly raised makes things easier on our tired backs! Indeed, sitting on a chair or sofa, it is so much nicer to watch baby develop...

The baby playpen: a safe play area

Baby develops, baby grows... They love touching everything and especially what they should not! Yes, it is always the same! The moment your back is turned, they have already made a dash for their next bit of mischief! It is so tempting to poke into plug sockets or to open cupboards and empty them... why resist? At a certain age, baby is hungry for exploration and activities.

On all fours, they have you running everywhere, but how do you keep this little one in check? The playpen is the answer to everything (or nearly)! Indeed, behind the safety rails, baby has their pile of favourite toys (including their multicoloured wooden rainbow).

They play, discover, and taste this new world — and I am not sure who gets the most enjoyment out of it... but how does the household keep running in the meantime?

Where should you put the baby playpen?

The living room is often the main living space for the whole family. Indeed, it is often positioned close to the kitchen and is frequently the central hub of the home.

So, it makes sense to put our baby playpen there. Beside the sofa would be ideal in order to keep a close eye on them and have quality interactions without worrying about our posture.

Unfortunately (or perhaps not), life goes on. Dinner will not make itself, nor will the washing-up. So positioning this playpen so you can see them while draining the pasta is not a bad idea at all. Whatever happens, it is important to keep baby close so you can react quickly if anything goes wrong.

Unless you have several playpens, place it where you know you will spend most of your time... but up to what age will baby tolerate the playpen?

Its limits

Time passes and baby wants something different? Perhaps you do too! Do you sometimes want to try free movement? Nothing is stopping you from having a folding playpen and putting it away so it does not take up too much space! So the only limit of the playpen is your own willingness to use it. Able to support up to 15 kg on average, it can be used until around 2 years of age, depending on the style and characteristics of the item.
