How to organise the changing table?
You've finally found THE changing table that suits you perfectly, you're happy with how it looks, everything is great… except that you have absolutely no idea how or where to put the cotton wool, the muslin cloths, the diapers, the body cream, the nappy rash cream, the nasal aspirator… the list is endless, and your changing table is not nearly organised enough! Don't panic — here are a few tips and tricks for organising a changing table with two key principles: simple and practical.
Tip no. 1: Adapt to your space
The changing area can look very different from one home to another. While some parents opt for a super-modern changing table with drawers and cupboards, others prefer simply placing their baby on the floor on a changing mat. You'll need to identify your needs and adapt your storage accordingly.
Tip no. 2: Keep things within reach
The best advice we can give you is to simply keep the bare minimum within reach, so you don't have to carry your baby from room to room in search of the liniment or the nail scissors. Many parents like to have a small basket with the essentials: diapers, liniment, washable wipes, nail scissors, saline solution and a small brush. (Adjust the list according to your baby's needs.)
Tip no. 3: Avoid clutter
Bath-time products have no place on the changing table — try instead to find a spot close to your bath or shower so you don't have to move everything around at bath time. Of course, this depends on the space you have available, but there are many very affordable storage solutions that take up very little room.
Products kept in "stock", duplicates, and spare packs of diapers "just in case" are better stored in cupboards or elsewhere, so they don't take up unnecessary space.
