DIY - Wet face cloths for the whole family

Even though they generate an enormous amount of waste, disposable wipes are — let's be honest — incredibly handy! Ready to use, they allow you to wipe baby's face, change them, or freshen them up in a flash. But, once again, it is perfectly possible to make your own face cloths at home. It is incredibly simple, economical, and above all just as effective and convenient as disposable wipes!

How to make DIY face cloths for baby?

What you need to make wet wipes for baby's nappy changes

- 10 bamboo washable wipes

- Water

- Soap-free baby wash gel

- Coconut oil

- A measuring vessel (here we use an egg cup)

- An airtight container

Why use coconut oil in homemade wet wipes for baby?

Coconut oil is naturally antibacterial and antifungal. On top of that, its outstanding moisturising properties leave skin wonderfully soft!

Step-by-step instructions for making your face cloths for the whole family

First, bring some water to the boil in a saucepan and place your airtight container in it to sterilise it, then dry it with a clean tea towel.

Next, bring fresh water to the boil — this will be used for your solution. Meanwhile, pour half a measure of coconut oil and a quarter measure of baby wash gel into the airtight container.

Then pour 4 measures of boiling water into the container and mix everything together well.

Place your washable wipes into the container and stir well.

And there you have it — your face cloths are ready to use!

How do I use my homemade face cloths?

It could not be simpler — just take a wipe out of the container and apply it to the part of the body you want to clean! You can use them for nappy changes, as well as for baby's hands and face. They also work brilliantly for the rest of the family, particularly for removing make-up (avoid the eyes, though, because of the wash gel). They will keep for around 1 week.

To take them out and about, simply pop them into a zip-lock freezer bag or a washable waterproof pouch, and you're all set!
