How to dress your child this summer?
Worried it's too hot, but also that they're not covered enough with the sun beating down... But how do you dress your child this summer? This puzzle comes up every year and affects every family, trust us! In fact, it's a headache that tends to resurface in autumn too, and quite possibly in spring and even in winter.
But let's focus, right here, right now, on the sunny days!
How to dress your child this summer: the best fabrics to choose
You will no doubt be aware that some fabrics retain heat more than others. And therefore, by extension, that some allow air to pass through more easily.
For babies, the essential fabric is of course cotton! Whether it's a top, a bodysuit, a t-shirt, shorts or a dress, this natural fibre is ideal. Soft, supple, natural and highly absorbent, it is also hypoallergenic. As a result, it is perfectly suited to our little ones' delicate skin!
What's more, a little less widespread but just as pleasant to wear: linen. This fabric is known for being thermoregulating, meaning it allows air to circulate, helping the body to stay cool.
You can also find linen and cotton blend fabrics — a good compromise in itself!
Finally, how could we talk about dressing your child this summer without mentioning the ultra-trendy fabric of the moment? Bamboo, of course! Or more precisely, bamboo fibre. It has the advantage of allowing moisture to evaporate whilst also letting air in. It is even described as intelligent fabric. Rather tempting, isn't it?!
What baby clothes should you choose for sleeping this summer?
When it comes to sleep, you have a fair amount of flexibility. In extreme heat (27 degrees and above), baby can even sleep in just a diaper.
A simple bodysuit is recommended when the room is at 26 degrees. When the temperature drops below that, a lightweight sleeping bag designed for summer will be just right.
