What is homemade floraline for my baby? It has to be said that, although the name often makes us think of an old-fashioned home remedy, it isn't one! Well, not exactly! Either way, it is a meal with several benefits — including one secret I am going to reveal to you!

The basic principle of homemade floraline for my baby

Behind this gentle-sounding name lies a little blend of two types of cereal. Indeed, wheat and tapioca come together at our tables to delight baby's taste buds. The smoothness and creaminess of this delicious blend would be a real hit with everyone who tries it!

It is indeed by combining 95% semolina with 5% tapioca that the perfect floraline is achieved. Sometimes, people are tempted to adjust the proportions to their own taste — but what matters is that everyone enjoys it! So, why add tapioca semolina to our little ones' dishes?

The benefits of tapioca semolina for baby

Tapioca comes from cassava. It is a starch that is widely appreciated in South America (where it most commonly originates) and in Asian countries. It is described as neutral, which is why it can be used in a variety of recipes, both sweet and savoury.

That said, tapioca has many benefits. Among them, we find that it is rich in fibre and carbohydrates. It is also a source of iron. It helps to stimulate intestinal transit and to reduce the risk of anaemia.

It helps to enrich the diet as it provides an energy boost without any added fat. It is also a thickener that promotes a feeling of fullness.

However, its glycaemic index is high at 85, so it should not be overused. But how do we combine tapioca and wheat for a perfect match?

A homemade floraline recipe idea to keep baby satisfied throughout the day

First of all, we only need three ingredients and just 10 minutes to make our famous floraline. We'll start with 28g of wheat semolina, 5g of tapioca and 250ml of milk. The milk can be whatever your little one usually has, or you can express it in advance if you are breastfeeding. And do feel free to have a look at our wonderful article on electric breast pumps!

That said, we'll begin by bringing our milk to the boil in a saucepan. Then we'll add our two other ingredients, stir them in and cook on a low heat for 5 minutes. It's ready! It's worth knowing that you can adjust the quantities I've given you.

Less tapioca, more milk — it's up to you. But at least you have a solid base recipe. From there, to vary the flavours and keep things interesting, you can, as you please, add spices. Turmeric, curry or paprika — anything goes to give baby a pleasant surprise! Here's one more tip with floraline!

Homemade floraline to help our little ones drift off to sleep

Baby has been having trouble sleeping lately... A little restless, and the night ahead is shaping up to be another difficult one. With the homemade floraline recipe, it would be a good idea to add a spoonful of orange blossom water to help soothe baby a little! It's important to respect their appetite, so you can keep things simple with just this for dinner.
