A closer look at all-in-one Pocket diapers
When you first discover the world of reusable diapers, it can often feel overwhelming to navigate the different models, their advantages, and how to use them. Today we are going to introduce you to all-in-one Pocket diapers. This is a model we often recommend for night-time use, but that is not its only selling point.
What is an all-in-one Pocket diaper?
The all-in-one Pocket diaper is a pocket diaper, like the "classic" Pocket diapers, but with an insert that is sewn inside it. It can therefore be used just as it is, without any additional insert. That said, its pocket allows an extra insert to be added for a boost in absorbency.

The advantages of the all-in-one Pocket diaper
Our all-in-one Pocket diapers are very soft and comfortable to wear. Their lining is made from bamboo charcoal. Bamboo charcoal is an antibacterial, antifungal, and antistatic fabric. It regulates moisture and prevents unpleasant odours. It also keeps baby's bottom feeling dry.
They feature an insert sewn inside the diaper made up of 5 layers: 2 layers of bamboo charcoal and 3 layers of microfibre. Their pocket also allows additional inserts to be added, increasing their absorbency capacity.

They also offer a double leak barrier thanks to the elastics around the thighs and a double gusset system. The double gussets are waterproof fabric reinforcements located at the crotch. They help to contain even the most liquid stools, as well as directing urine towards the central part of the insert.

Finally — and this is no small advantage — it is the easiest reusable diaper to use! If the people around you (a childminder, family members) are a little reluctant about reusable diapers, this one should win them over. It is just as easy to put on as a disposable diaper. The only difference is that instead of going in the bin, it gets stored in a waterproof bag. For everyone else, it is exactly the same!
The disadvantages of the all-in-one Pocket diaper
Yes, it does have a few small drawbacks! The first is that it requires a slightly longer drying time than Pocket diapers or Cover diapers. Because the insert is sewn into the diaper, it cannot be separated from it.

It also requires slightly more delicate care than other reusable diaper models. The insert sewn into the diaper can become clogged like any insert. The issue is that it cannot be separated from the diaper. In order not to damage the PUL and the elastics of your all-in-one diapers, you will therefore need to use gentler deep-cleaning methods.
How to care for your all-in-one Pocket diapers?
When you receive your all-in-one Pocket diapers
Your all-in-one Pocket diapers have an insert sewn inside the diaper. Like all inserts, it needs a break-in period before it reaches its maximum absorbency — this generally takes between 10 and 15 washes. We therefore recommend soaking your diaper for a few hours, then washing it approximately twice on a long cycle with a suitable detergent before putting it on your baby.
The diaper will not yet have reached its maximum absorbency, but it can still be used. While your diaper is still in the break-in period, we suggest using it during the day rather than trying it straight away at night.
How to wash your all-in-one Pocket diapers?
Unless you are washing them straight away, we recommend rinsing them and leaving them to air dry before placing them in your laundry basket. The washing process involves two cycles. The first removes residual stool and urine. The second washes the diaper thoroughly, which helps to reduce the risk of build-up. To ensure the diapers are washed properly, we recommend fastening them inside out so the insert is thoroughly cleaned.
The first wash cycle
Your first cycle should be run at 30°C and last a minimum of 30 minutes. Use only one third of your usual detergent dose. Spin at 1200 rpm.
The second wash cycle
The second cycle washes the fabric fibres thoroughly. It should be a long cycle (cotton or whites/coloureds) of at least 1 hour 30 at 40°C with a spin speed of 1200 rpm. For this cycle, use your usual detergent dose.
NB: If your machine does not spin at 1200 rpm, we recommend adding an extra spin at the end of your cycles.

How to deep-clean your all-in-one Pocket diapers
Even with a good washing routine — especially if your water is very hard — your all-in-one Pocket diapers may still become clogged over time. As mentioned above, you will need to use gentle deep-cleaning methods to avoid damaging both the PUL and the elastics of your diapers. That is why the use of white vinegar and soda crystals is not recommended.
To deep-clean your all-in-one Pocket diapers, we recommend a thorough clean with percarbonate of soda. Start by running a long machine wash cycle at 40°C without any detergent.
Next, place your diapers in a basin and cover them with hot water (as hot as your tap will go), then add one teaspoon of percarbonate per litre of water. Make sure you do not exceed 2 hours of soaking.
If the water is not clear, rinse and spin your diapers in the machine, then carry out a new 4-hour soak. Repeat this step for as long as the water is not clear.
Finally, when the water is clear, simply run a new long cycle at 40°C with your usual detergent to remove the percarbonate. If possible, leave your diapers to dry in the sun — this helps to kill any remaining bacteria.
