Aleppo baby soap is a soap originating in Syria (the city of Aleppo) made from olive oil and laurel oil.

The History of Aleppo Baby Soap: The Ancestor of Our Modern Soaps

Aleppo baby soap has been around for several centuries. First created nearly 4,000 years ago, it is one of the first solid soaps ever made by humans. Guess what? For 4,000 years, the recipe for Aleppo baby soap has never changed. It’s handcrafted from laurel berry oil, olive oil, vegetable lye, and water. Known for its biodegradable properties, this eco-friendly soap contains no synthetic ingredients, solvents, dyes, animal fats, or fragrance fixatives.

The production of eco-friendly Aleppo baby soap:

Since olives are one of the main ingredients, Aleppo baby soap can only be made during the colder months (November through March), that is, once the olive harvest is over.

This traditional soap is always produced in the same way: the olive oil is heated, and then the desired amount of laurel oil is added. The percentage of laurel oil in the soap determines its price and value. It also determines the skin types for which it is effective. Therefore, refer to the following percentages:

  • 5 to 15% for sensitive and dry skin
  • 15 to 25% for combination skin
  • 25 to 40% for acne-prone and oily skin
  • Over 40% for delicate skin, such as a baby’s

Product characteristics and benefits:

In general, Aleppo soap is known for being ultra-moisturizing (remember, it’s made entirely of oil). This is by no means a bad thing, as it helps prevent the skin from drying out while preserving the hydrolipidic film, which protects the skin. Laurel berry oil has healing and antiseptic properties.

Olive oil, for its part, is known for its softening and soothing properties. With a gentle fragrance, this soap blends the delicate scents of olive and laurel. You’ll recognize a genuine Aleppo soap because it leaves no scent on the skin after rinsing. It’s important to store your soap away from direct sunlight and, above all, in a dry place!

One of the benefits is that it improves with age. It continues to develop and becomes gentler over time. The soap can be used to wash your hands, body, and face. You can even use it as a body wash or shampoo.

It can also be used for treatments in the hammam and sauna because it deeply cleanses the skin and is suitable for even the most sensitive skin types. As such, it’s ideal for anyone with skin conditions such as dandruff, fungal infections, blemishes, and eczema.

Its various uses…

  1. Shaving lather: Aleppo baby soap helps prepare the skin for a gentle shave—and, most importantly, one without irritation;
  2. In the shower: suitable for all skin types, whether dry, sensitive, oily, or combination;
  3. As a shampoo: it helps treat the skin conditions mentioned above;
  4. As a beauty mask: leave the foaming soap on your face after moistening your skin. The result? Purified skin!

Available as a 200g bar, we felt it was important to offer you an organic soap that’s suitable not only for moms but also, of course, for your children’s sensitive skin.
