3 sweet baby food recipes with seasonal fruit
Autumn is here, and seasonal fruit along with it! We don't know about you, but this time of year makes us feel like cooking lovely little dishes for baby. In particular, sweet little pots full of warmth. The smell of cinnamon, apples, quinces, persimmon, mandarin… so many flavours that give us no end of ideas! Here are 3 sweet baby food recipes made with seasonal fruit that will delight the taste buds of your little ones… and the grown-ups too!
1. Apple and quince compote with a hint of cinnamon (from 6 months)
Ingredients:
- 1 quince
- 2 small Golden apples
- A pinch of cinnamon
Method:
- Peel the quince and apples and remove the core and seeds. Rinse them, then cut into small cubes.
- Steam the quince first, then after 5 minutes add the apples. Leave to cook for a further 10 minutes. Check they are done with a knife.
- Blend the fruit and add the cinnamon. (Depending on your child's age, you can blend less thoroughly to obtain small pieces.)
2. Apple and persimmon compote (from 6 months)
Ingredients: (4 portions)
- 2 persimmons
- 1 Golden apple
- 2 pinches of vanilla
- Half a glass of water
Method:
- Peel the apple, remove the core and seeds, and cut into cubes.
- Peel the persimmons and cut them into small pieces.
- In a saucepan, add the fruit, vanilla powder, and half a glass of water. Cover the pan and simmer over a low heat for 25 minutes, stirring regularly.
- Blend the fruit, adding cooking water as needed depending on the desired consistency.
3. Clementine, pear and butter-biscuit baby pot (from 6 months)
Ingredients:
- 2 pears (William/Bon Chrétien if possible)
- The juice of 2 clementines
- 1 and a half butter-style biscuits
Method:
- Soak the biscuits in the clementine juice
- Peel the pear, remove the core and stalk, then rinse. Cut the pear into pieces
- Steam the pear for 10 minutes
- Place the pear in a blender and add the biscuit and clementine juice mixture
- Blend everything together and leave to set in the fridge for 2 hours
